Biography
Jonathan Safran Foer was born in Washington D. C. in 1977. He grew up in a family very committed to cultural activism and graduated in Philosophy from Princeton University. His first book, Everything is Illuminated, which he started to write when he was 19 years old and published six years later, was an instant success all over the world and was greeted with widespread acclaim by international critics. In 2002 this book won the National Jewish Book Award and the Guardian First Book Award.
Safran Foer also organised the anthology entitled A Convergence of Birds: Original Fiction and Poetry Inspired by the Work of Joseph Cornell, and his short stories have been published by the Paris Review, Conjunctions and in the New Yorker. He now lives in New York. His second book, Extremely loud and incredibly close: A Novel is about to be published in Italy by Guanda.
