Biography
Born in Rome on December 5th 1949, his expressiveness is the result of a personal merging of the two different souls of jazz and the classical piano. His first recording appeared in 1975. Among others he has worked with Frank Rosolino, Bruno Biriaco, Sal Nistico, Irio De Paula, Kenny Clarke, Oscar Valdambrini, Dino Piana, Eddy Palermo, Ronny Cuber and then later with Johnny Griffin, Chet Baker, Art Farmer, Jim Hall, Lee Konitz, Phil Woods, Marc Johnson, Joey Baron, Charlie Haden, Billy Higgins and Paul Motian. Leading his own bands he has performed at the main Italian (Umbria Jazz, Ravenna, Milano Ciak), European (Berlin, Madrid, Copenhagen tra gli altri), and later also at American Jazz festivals.
In 1993, the French "Academie du jazz" nominated him as one of the three best musicians in Europe. In 1993 the Festival de Montreal (Canada) invited him for a solo piano performance. In 1996 he recorded the CD "The night gone by" in New York, together with Marc Johnson and Paul Motian.
